Introduction of Chishtian

Chishtian is one of five Tehsils of District Bahawalnagar. The total area 16.5 sq km. The City Chishtian is situated on the main Bahawalnagar-Bahawalpur Highway. River SATLUJ flows in the North, Tehsil Bahawalnagar (District headquarter) is situated in the East. Tehsil Hasilpur of District Bahawalpur lies in the West and the desert of CHOLISTAN, Tehsil Fort Abbas in the South. Total population of Tehsil is 633654. Whereas population of six urban union councils of Chishtian is 132517.

A HISTORICAL OVERVIEW

Chishtian is an ancient city. The old name of this town was “GaRrh BHatTian”. The name CHISHTIAN was adopted after the arrival of a 6^th century Sufi preacher Hazrat Baba Taaju-d-Deen Sarwar Shaheed Chishti; the grandson of great Sufi saint Hazrat Fareed- Ud -Deen Masood Ganj-e- Shakar of Chishtia silsila. The soul of city are famous saint Hazrat Sheikh Taj-ud-Din Sarwar and Hazrat Khawaja Noor Muhammad Moharvi.
